The Indian Trade Union Confederation, affiliated to the RSS, which is considered an ally of the BJP, protested against the central government's new labor code.

The Indian Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) today announced demonstrations and rallies against the new Labor Code in all corners of the country. The government amended the Labor Act through three new labor codes that the Indian Trade Union Confederation considered anti-labor.

The government passed the code in the monsoon session. It was amended to cover three issues. The first issue was called the Industrial Relations Code. The second issue was called the Social Security Code and the third issue was the Occupational Security Health and Working Conditions Code. Simultaneously the Remuneration Code Khado 2019 was also passed by Parliament last year.

Binay Kumar Sinha, National General Secretary of the Indian Trade Union Confederation, said earlier this month that "recently we had virtually organized the 19th Annual Convention of the Union." It was decided to oppose the new law enacted by the government as it was against the interests of the workers and to hold nationwide protests. We also warned the government to repeal the anti-labor provisions in these new laws or else we will have to launch a nationwide agitation. The government has not heeded our warning so now we have no choice but to agitate.
