Corona is likely to become more dangerous in winter, preparing to order oxygen from abroad

New delhi date. Thursday, October 15, 2020

In the midst of the Corona's transition, the government fears that the virus will spread further in the winter.

Corona causes many patients to need oxygen. With this in mind, the government plans to procure one lakh metric tonnes of oxygen from abroad to prevent oxygen shortage in the country. A tender was also issued on Wednesday for this. The issue was discussed at the meeting. It was later decided that oxygen would also be procured from abroad.

It may take a month and a half to complete the procurement process. At present, the country has the capacity to produce 7,000 metric tonnes of oxygen per day, of which 3,094 metric tonnes is used for coronary artery disease and other diseases. However, the demand for oxygen for medical use has increased after Corona. On the other hand, due to unlocked guidelines, the use of oxygen in industries has also increased. In these circumstances, the government has started preparations to ensure that there is no shortage of oxygen for patients.

Out of the total corona patients in the country, 3.97 per cent are on oxygen support and 2.46 per cent are in ICU.
