Bihar elections: Out of 1463 candidates contesting from 92 seats, 495 are crorepatis

Thus, Bihar is counted among the poorest states in the country, but looking at the candidates in the Bihar elections, it seems that even though the people are poor, the leaders are rich.

According to a survey by Election Watch, 34 per cent of the candidates contesting from 94 seats in the second phase of elections in Bihar are crorepatis. Out of 1463 candidates contesting from these seats, 495 candidates are crorepatis. The average wealth is Rs 1.72 crore.

According to the party, the Congress is at the top. The Congress has 24 crorepati candidates but their average wealth is Rs 10.25 crore, while 43 JDU candidates are crorepatis and their average wealth is Rs 4.5 crore. And they have an average wealth of Rs 3.86 crore. 46 BJP candidates fall into the category of millionaires. Their average wealth is Rs 3.44 crore while the average wealth of BSP's 33 crore husband candidates is Rs 130 crore.

Among the crorepati candidates, Sanjeev Singh, who is contesting from Vaishali constituency, has the most assets at Rs 56 crore.
