3 scientists who discovered hepatitis C virus will get Nobel Prize

New Delhi, 5 October 2020 Monday

The 2020 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine will be jointly awarded to Harvey J Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M Rice. The award will be given to him for his contribution to the discovery of the hepatitis C virus.

All three scientists identified a novel virus, hepatitis C, through fundamental discoveries. The awarding body says this year's Nobel Prize will be awarded to three scientists who have made significant contributions to the fight against blood-borne hepatitis. This is a global health problem. This causes cirrhosis and liver cancer in people all over the world.

Significant work has previously been done on the detection of hepatitis A and B viruses, but most blood-borne hepatitis cases have not been further clarified. Millions of lives have been saved since the discovery of hepatitis C.

Significant discoveries of the hepatitis A and B viruses were made before his work, but most cases of hepatitis H remained unclear, with the discovery of the hepatitis C virus causing the causes of chronic hepatitis and making blood tests and new drugs possible.

Which has saved millions of lives, inflammation in the liver, or a combination of Greek words for hepatitis, liver and inflammation is primarily a viral infection, although alcohol abuse, environmental toxins and autoimmune diseases are also important causes.

A systematic study of transfusion-related hepatitis by Harvey J. Alter revealed that an unknown virus was a common cause of chronic hepatitis.

Michael Hewitt devised an inappropriate strategy to isolate the genome of a new virus called the hepatitis C virus.

Charles M. Rise gave the final facts that hepatitis C viral alone can cause hepatitis.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh congratulated the three scientists and said that all three deserved to be applauded for the award. Jitendra Singh wrote that the discovery made by Harvey J. Alter, Michael Houghton and Charles M. Rise is one of the greatest successes in the field of health.
