Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced advance pay and bonus on Diwali to 16 lakh government employees in Uttar Pradesh. He had officially instructed state finance minister Suresh Khanna on the matter.

"I will take up the issue with the chief minister after studying the central government's plan to give advances to its employees," Khanna said.

The central government had announced an advance of Rs 10,000 for cash vouchers and shopping instead of leave travel compensation to its employees. The state government of Uttar Pradesh also announced to emulate the Centre's plan.

Khanna claimed that the state had made good economic progress even among the Corona. The state had a revenue of Rs 600 crore in August this year as compared to last year and Rs 890 crore more this year as compared to September last year. The yogi government wanted to give the benefit to the government employees.

If the Uttar Pradesh government really adheres to this promise, 16 lakh state government employees will benefit. If each of them gets an advance of Rs 10,000, it will be a burden of Rs 1600 crore on the state exchequer.
