Plasma therapy is currently being shown to be very effective in treating coronavirus. However, the Indian Council of Medical Researchers has conducted a study on plasma therapy being given to patients in India with disappointing results. According to the study, plasma therapy does not reduce the risk of death in patients with mild to severe coronavirus symptoms in any way.

Risk of death even after giving plasma therapy in severe cases
The study also found that in severe cases there is a risk of death even after plasma therapy. Apart from this this therapy does not even stop the infection from growing. This trial of plasma therapy for the study has been named PLACID trial. The results of this study have been published on Preprint Server Madrid.

Placid trials were conducted at 39 locations between April 22 and July 14, examining a total of 1,210 patients. In the trial, patients who were treated with drugs given only for coronavirus were compared with patients receiving plasma therapy with drugs.

The majority of plasma donors for the trial were men (94.3%) with an average age of around 34 years. This plasma was taken for a donor who had been cured of the corona virus for 41 days. Patients who took plasma therapy showed minor symptoms such as chills, epilepsy, dizziness and pain. Most patients also had complaints such as fever and increased heart rate.

The study found antibodies in 79 percent of the people in the trial. The effectiveness of plasma therapy also depends on the age of the patient, the severity of the disease and the age of the plasma donor. The patient who had recovered from the corona was being induced to donate plasma. Most of the donors are coming of age and with minor symptoms.

Not effective on a patient with severe symptoms
The plasma of young people who have recovered from the corona is not benefiting patients with mild or severe symptoms, the study said. Let me tell you, plasma therapy is being seen as an effective treatment in many countries, including India. Plasma therapy is being given under emergency use in India.

Started from Delhi
This study is also important because, to this day, it has been claimed that the lives of corona patients can be saved through plasma therapy. Delhi Plasma Bank was the first in India. Plasma bank facility has also been started in Maharashtra.

Plasma therapy is an experimental treatment
Health experts and scientists are looking at plasma therapy as an experimental treatment until the corona virus is vaccinated. So it cannot be called an effective treatment of corona.
