Dr. Kafil Khan, who was released from Mathura jail on Tuesday following the Allahabad High Court verdict, taunted the government of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying, "Thank you for not beating me."

In January this year, Dr. Kafil Khan expressed his opposition to the new law on citizenship and the register of citizens. He was subsequently arrested under the National Security Act. Once released he was arrested a second time. Gondi was kept in jail without filing a court case.

Eventually Kafil Khan's mother filed an application in the Allahabad High Court for the son under the Habeas Corpus Act that we do not know where my son is. Order the police to present him in court. In the High Court, the police could not prove any allegation against Dr Kafil Khan. High Court Justice Govind Mathur said there was no case against Khan under the National Security Act. To release him on immediate bail.

However, the Aligarh administration did not send any message during the day to release Dr Khan from the Mathura jail, so Dr Khan was released at midnight.

After his release, Dr Khan thanked the judiciary and thanked the 138 crore people of the country for their support in this fight. He alleged that the government of Yogi Adityanath was torturing me without any reason. More than once I was imprisoned in Gondi for no good reason.
