- However, the vice president went on a rampage
New Delhi, 9 September 2020, Wednesday
The convoy of terror-stricken Afghan Vice President Amarullah Saleh came under heavy fire this morning. Amarullah Saleh, however, escaped but three of his comrades were killed and twelve others were injured.
According to initial reports, a roadside bomb had exploded in the Taimani area of Kabul. The vice president's office confirmed the attack.
"Both me and my father are safe," Saleh's son Ebad Saleh said on Twitter. No one with us was martyred. Of course, we had a fatal attack. We are all safe.
The blast was so loud that the car's wreckage was blown away and the surrounding buildings were also severely damaged. The blast also started a fire which was immediately extinguished by the fire brigade. Afghan security forces cordoned off the area. The attack is believed to have been carried out by Pakistani militant groups.
Saleh was also attacked last year in which he was stabbed but around twenty people were killed.
