Rajasthan teacher recruitment case: One killed in violent protests, state seeks help from Center

Violent protests have started for the fourth day in a row in Rajasthan over the appointment of ST candidates for unreserved seats in teacher recruitment. Protesters have taken over the Kherwada hills in Udaipur. One person has been killed in a firing incident in Kherwada. Protesters have damaged public property and set it on fire. Rajasthan police is constantly trying to control the situation. In the midst of all this, the Rajasthan government has demanded a Rapid Action Force from the central government. So on the other hand the officials are meeting with the tribals.

Candidates for the Teacher Recruitment Examination 2018 on Thursday blocked the Udaipur-Ahmedabad highway. Threw stones at police, sapantione caused damage. Violence then erupted in the area. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed for a peaceful protest. The situation in Dungarpur district is still tense. So far, protesters have set fire to several hotels and looted shops.

So far police have registered complaints against 3300 people. Complaints have been registered under the charges of vandalism of property, arson, highway blockade etc. So far, police have arrested 34 people. In just two days, protesters have damaged millions of properties.
