Jaipur, Ta. 8 September 2020, Tuesday

The Rajasthan High Court has delivered its verdict in a controversy over school fees following a lockdown in the country following the corona virus. Justice SP Sharma's court has allowed the parents to charge 70 per cent of the total fee. In addition, arrangements have been made for the financial burden on the parents.

The Gehlot government had ordered a halt to the fees on April 9 and July 7. The Catholic Education Society, Progressive Education Society and another school had filed an application in the Rajasthan High Court challenging the state government's order.

Three installments will have to be paid

Where the court has allowed school administrators to charge 70 per cent fees, care has also been taken not to impose financial burden on parents. The High Court has made arrangements to pay the arrears to the guardians in three installments.

The school cannot cancel the name

The court also clarified in its judgment that if a parent is unable to pay the fee in three installments, the school cannot cancel the child's name. However, in this situation the school can close its online class if it wants.
