Now the ideal weight of a man in the country is 65 kg and the ideal weight of a woman is 55 kg

The National Institute of Nutrition has changed the norms for what should be the ideal weight of women and men in the country.

According to the new rules, the ideal weight figure has been increased by five kilograms. Ten years ago the ideal weight for men was 60 kg. Which has now been increased to 65 kg while the ideal weight for women has been increased from 50 kg to 55 kg.

Thus, significant changes have been made in the country's BMI i.e. body mass index. Apart from this the rules of ideal length for women and men have also changed. The first ideal length for men was 5 feet 6 inches. Which has now been increased to 5 feet 8 inches. While in women the ideal height measurement has been changed from a fine 5 feet to 5 feet 3 inches.

The reference age in the country has also changed. Earlier, the reference age was 20 to 39 years. Now 19 to 39 years will be considered as reference age instead.

Scientists at the institute say that the change in BMI has led to an increase in nutrients in the diet of Indians. Data were obtained from all over the country by conducting a comprehensive survey before changing the BMI.

BMI is a popular measure of body weight and height.
