NEET exam will not be postponed, the Supreme Court refused to hear the application

- Examination will be held at the appointed time

New Delhi, 9 September 2020, Wednesday

The Supreme Court this morning refused to hear the NEET exam application. So now from September 13 the exams will be taken as per the rules.

The apex court had on August 17 rejected the application for adjournment after hearing an earlier application. An application for reconsideration of the judgment was renewed. Dismissing the application, the apex court this morning refused to hear the application for postponing the NEET exam.

A bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Krishna Murari said, "We have accepted the application for reconsideration of the judgment and it has been heard." We rejected the application as we did not find it appropriate.

The petition was filed by six non-BJP states, including West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. The petitioners said the application was made to protect the health and right to life of the students appearing for the exams.

The petitioners argued that the government had failed to take necessary security measures while conducting the examination. The Supreme Court did not accept any of these revision petitions.
