NASA will buy lunar soil from private companies

Washington, Ta. 13 September 2020, Sunday

NASA has announced that it intends to purchase Lunar Mountains from private companies. So that excavation work on the moon can begin. The space agency is seeking a proposal from the company on how to collect soil and rock on the moon using rovers. NASA plans to pay between 15 15,000 and 25 25,000 for a 50- to 500-gram sample.

Collecting lunar mountains and soil and giving them to NASA would be the equivalent of starting a space trade on the moon, NASA said. In other words, this step will help establish the principles of how to start excavation work for the space business. Whereas, this step will help for future space project.

NASA wants dominance and acquisition before the year 2024 as humans plan to land on the moon again. Companies will have to collect lunar dust and mountains on the lunar surface, although they will not have to send them back to Earth. Each company will have to send photos of the sample collected by them to NASA.

Apart from this, where the sample was collected from and its related data will also have to be given to the space agency. The weight of the sample should be between 50 and 500 grams and should be prepared for storage by future missions. NASA will plan for its collection at a later date.

In a blog post, NASA Administrator Jim Brandenstein said, “We are looking to usher in a new era of discovering our own policies. Which will be of special benefit to human civilization.

"Taking advantage of the commercial partnership as part of ArtemisA will enhance our ability to stand on, innovate, and return safely to the moon at every rate," Bridenstein said. He said NASA does not plan to violate the 1967 outer space treaty, which believes that skyrocketing exports and space ownership are exempt from the nation's claim.
