Modi government bows down in protest, allowed to ask unstarred questions in monsoon session

-The monsoon session will have a limited question period

-Asked to ask unstarred questions

New Delhi Dated 3rd September 2020 Thursday

In the monsoon session of Parliament, which begins on September 14, the government bowed to the government's decision to cancel the question period and allowed it to ask unstarred questions.

There is a need to understand the process. The answer to the unstarred questions is given in writing by the concerned Minister i.e. it is not discussed. The answers to the starred questions have to be given orally. Opposition groups called for the beleagured PM to resign. As a result, the government had to bow down.

Congress member Shashi Tharoor had sought an explanation from the government on the issue. Tharoor alleged that I had said four months ago that the government would try to stifle differences under the pretext of Corona. To what extent is the decision to cancel Question Hour justified on the pretext of protecting MPs?

In a parliamentary democracy, the answer to the government's actions is the oxygen of democracy. It cannot be suppressed. The government, by its own majority, passes the bill it wants to pass. Tharoor also alleged that Parliament was set up as a notice board.

He said the government had canceled the question period in the hope that the opposition would not ask questions about the deteriorating economy and border tensions.
