The Congress party started preparations for the 2022 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and formed seven new committees to strengthen the party in the state. During the creation, Jitin Prasad, a Brahmin face, and actor-cum-politician Raj Babbar were marginalized. Earlier, Raj Babbar was the president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress. Former Union Minister RPN Singh was also sidelined.

According to an announcement made by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal on Sunday, party president Sonia Gandhi had constituted seven committees for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, including an election manifesto committee, a liaison committee, a membership committee, a program coordination committee, a training and cadre development committee. Panchayati Raj Election Committee and Media as well as Publicity Committee. According to one opinion, these committees were formed to reactivate old and somewhat neglected leaders and to give opportunities to young leaders and activists.

But in this, cards like Jitin Prasad and Raj Babbar, who are considered the Brahmin face of the state, were cut off. Similarly, former central contributor RPN Singh was also pushed to the sidelines. However, senior party leaders Salman Khurshid and PL Poonia were included in the election manifesto committee. Political observers believe that the three leaders who wrote the letter to Sonia Gandhi included Jitin Prasad, Raj Babbar and RPN Singh. So they were put in the sun. The move indirectly warned dissidents that if you become wiser, you will lose what you already have.
