The matter came to a head on Friday at a meeting of the Congress convened to discuss preparations for the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections. A video clip of the incident went viral on social media.

The meeting was also attended by the President of Hyderabad Pradesh Congress. In his presence the two groups fought inside. The President tried his best to control the situation but to no avail. Eventually the chairman himself left the seat.

The political party, which is almost two hundred years old and has made significant contributions to the country's freedom struggle, is now in a state of internal tension. At the local or national level, there were rumors that the Congress party was now dying from infighting.
