In the country, 1.48 crore children and teenagers are addicted to drugs

Growing drug addiction among children is becoming a serious problem for India. A survey by the Government of India has revealed shocking revelations in this regard.

The survey found that 1.48 crore children between the ages of 10 and 17 as well as teenagers were consuming drugs including opium, cocaine and cannabis. The survey was conducted by the Ministry of Social Justice across the country in 2018. The findings of the survey were also presented in the Lok Sabha.

Alcohol is the most polluted among children and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 17. About 3 million children and adolescents in this age group drink alcohol in the country, while the number of alcoholics in the age group of 18 to 75 years is about 150 million. There are 40 lakh who consume opium and 20 lakh cannabis. 50 lakh children are consuming drugs that can be sniffed or inhaled.

Doctors say that these habits are adversely affecting the physical and mental development of teenagers. Teenagers are becoming aggressive under the influence of drugs. But people are resorting to drugs. Even parents do not have time for their children and due to neglect, teenagers also get addicted to drugs.
