Forest department team did not arrive on time, villagers kidnapped the crocodile and demanded Rs 50,000!

Lucknow, Ta. 12 September 2020, Saturday

You may have heard of people being kidnapped and demanding ransom, but have you ever heard of a crocodile being kidnapped and asked for money? One such incident has in fact happened in Lakhmipur Khiri district of Uttar Pradesh. Both the incident and its video are going viral on social media. There is a lake in the village of Midnia in the district. A crocodile came into the lake. The villagers were shocked to learn of this. The villagers reported the matter to the forest department and the police. Neither the forest department nor the police team arrived on time.

The villagers then tied the crocodile with a rope after about three hours of hard work and later pulled it out of the lake. Annoyed by the forest department and police not arriving on time, the villagers dragged the crocodile inside the lake and later turned it on the village road. Then when the forest department and the police team came to the village, the villagers demanded Rs 50,000 from them.

Even after hours of headbutting, the villagers refused. Police then warned that legal action would be taken against him if he did not release the crocodile. The villagers then gave up demanding money.

Villagers say they caught the crocodile at the risk of their lives, so they should be compensated. After some persuasion, the villagers handed over the crocodile to the Forest Department team. The Forest Department team released the crocodile into the river. This is probably the first case of its kind.
