Farmers protest against three orders of the Center, threat of agitation if demands are not met

- An atmosphere like conflict between BJP and Jajpa

New Delhi Dated 12th September 2020 Saturday

In the monsoon session of Parliament starting on Monday, the central government was planning to pass three of its own orders on agriculture and harvesting, prompting farmers to agitate against the three orders and threatening a fierce agitation.

The atmosphere heated up as the Opposition Congress and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) declared support to the farmers. An atmosphere of confrontation was created between the ruling BJP and the Jajpa alliance. The farmers considered the three orders issued by the central government to buy crops to be unjust.

Just a day earlier, the Indian Farmers Union (Bhakiyu) had created a traffic jam on the highway in the Pipli area of Kurukshetra. This led to clashes between police and farmers. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. However, the peasant movement was not likely to stop.

According to the new order, traders will now be able to buy farmers' crops even outside the mandi (market), previously only from the mandi. At the same time, with the central government freeing pulses, potatoes, onions, cereals, edible oils, etc. from the list of essential commodities, the possibility of stocking them was automatically eliminated. In addition, the central government started working towards a policy to promote contract farming. The farmers were offended by all this. He did not particularly like the first command.

Farmers believed that the policy of buying crops from the market would get them a minimum price. The possibility of selling out of the market was blown away. "If the order is not revoked, we will launch a fierce agitation," the farmers threatened.
