New Delhi Dated 12th September 2020 Saturday

The Election Commission released revised guidelines for political parties and leaders on Friday. From now on, the candidate leader and the party will have to disclose the details of the candidate's offenses through public notice three times. The details will have to be published three times in newspapers and on television

The first such public notice must be given within four days of the last date for withdrawal of the subscription form. Such public notice must be given within five to eight days of the last date for withdrawal of candidature form and for the third time nine days before the end of the election campaign and before the end of the election campaign.

The Election Commission said details of criminal background would also have to be disclosed in the seat where the candidate won unopposed. The Election Commission believes that the move will create a kind of awareness among voters, candidates and political parties. Selection options will increase as voters become aware of the authenticity of the candidate.

These changes were implemented with immediate effect. A spokesman for the Election Commission said it was necessary to tighten voter awareness rules to make democracy more effective.

The commission also announced that the guidelines issued by the Election Commission would be implemented immediately. It is a well-known fact that in the last few years, more than 30 per cent of the leaders in the Legislative Assemblies and Parliament have had police records involved in dozens of crimes. Each party had few leaders with such a criminal history.
