‘Become a Scindia if you are constantly insulted’

-Ramdas Athavale's advice to Sibal and Azad

- Serve the Congress a lot, get out now

Union Minister Ramdas Athavale called on senior Congress members Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal to become Scindia if you are constantly insulted in the Congress party.

Nabira Jyotiraditya Scindia, a member of the royal family from Gwalior, left the Congress and joined the BJP as she did not feel her dignity was properly maintained in the Congress. The BJP soon made Scindia a Rajya Sabha MP. Athavale advised Ghulam Nabi Azad and Kapil Sibal to become Scindia i.e. join BJP.

"You people have been sweating for years for the development of the Congress party," Athavale said. Now if you feel that your dignity is not being maintained, then leave the Congress and join the BJP.

It may be recalled here that Azad and Sibal were among the 23 members who wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi on the issue of the party's permanent president during a video meeting of the Congress executive last week. Rahul Gandhi alleged that these people had met with the BJP. So Azad was upset and said that he would resign if it was proved that he had links with the BJP.

However, later Sonia Gandhi called Azad and bandaged him. Sonia, keeping in mind Azad's hurt feelings, explained to him that Rahul had not made such remarks while addressing you.

However, Azad's feelings were not satisfied. A total of 23 people, including Shashi Tharoor, Kapil Sibal and Ghulam Nabi Azad, wrote a letter to Sonia saying it was time to give the party a permanent president. There was also an opinion that now the Congress should meet a president other than the Gandhi family.
