Asaduddin Owaisi's entry in Bihar polls, third front prospects strong

Patna, Ta. 21 September 2020, Monday

MP Osaduddin Owaisi's party, All India Majlis, is likely to contest the Bihar Assembly elections after the Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and former MP Devendra Yadav's Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic) form a United Democratic Secular Coalition (UDSA). However, it is not yet clear whether any other forces are joining the coalition.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and former MP Yadav, who entered Bihar in the Assembly elections, said that the Opposition was not doing its duty in Bihar. Apart from this, by inviting other like-minded parties to come together, he has signaled that the eyes of both the leaders are on the third front.

It has been said that the smaller forces in the grand coalition of opposition forces in Bihar are upset over the non-distribution of seats so far and the unclear position in the coalition. It is believed that Owaisi has a good chance to take advantage of the current political situation.

Any party that leaves the grand alliance and joins it will strengthen it. There are many smaller parties in Bihar that have maintained the same distance with the BJP and the Opposition and are also looking for an alliance. It is being said that such forces will also try to increase their size by joining this alliance.

The possibility of a third front, according to experts

Santosh Singh, a senior journalist who knows Bihar politics well, also says that there is no doubt that the entry with Owaisi and Devendra Yadav has strengthened the possibility of a third front in Bihar. He also said that Owaisi's hardline image would prevent parties from joining the alliance who also want the votes of Hindu voters.

He further said that there are many parties in Bihar that are coming to power through gender equality. In that, the parties will avoid joining the Owaisi alliance. He also said that the identity of Owaisi in some areas of Seemanchal, including Kishanganj, could not be denied, but it would not be easy for parties that have expanded their party to other areas to join the alliance.

On Saturday, AIMIM president Owaisi and Samajwadi Janata Dal (Democratic) president and former MP Devendra Yadav announced here that they would contest the elections under a coalition.
