London's Crown Prosecution Court was told on Thursday that Barrack No. 12 in Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail would be suitable for Nirav Modi, a diamond trader who escaped after laundering billions of rupees to Indian banks.

An extradition case is currently pending against Nirav in England. In this case, there was an impression that Nirav Modi was still acting. On Thursday, her lawyer told the court that Nirav's mental state was not right. He has attempted suicide. If he is kept alone in prison, his mental condition may worsen.

Justice Samuel Guzi was appearing in Westminster Magistrates' Court in London. Nirav was making desperate efforts not to surrender himself to India at any cost. Thursday was the fourth day of the hearing.

Nirav's lawyer told the court that Nirav's life could be in serious danger if he did not have adequate facilities at the Arthur Road Jail at a time when corona infection has spread around the world.

Dr Andrew Foster, a senior forensic psychiatrist who has studied Nirav's mental state four times between September last year and August this year, told the court that if Nirav's mental state deteriorated, he could commit suicide.
