Al Qaeda can only carry out small attacks in India: US

(PTI) Washington, Ta. 26
Christopher Miller, head of the U.S. National Counterterrorism Center, reported the terrorist activity to the U.S. Congress. Miller told the US Congress that al-Qaeda had weakened.
Christopher Miller said the way the United States has conducted operations against terrorists over the past two decades has broken the backs of terrorist organizations. Al Qaeda is on the verge of becoming inactive in Afghanistan. Even in India, al Qaeda can only carry out small-scale attacks. Al Qaeda has no power to carry out a major attack.
Miller claims that al-Qaeda formed a sub-organization for India in 2015 called Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent, but has no capacity to carry out large-scale attacks.
According to Miller, al-Qaeda's presence in the Indian subcontinent has been broken since the US shot dead Asim Umar in Afghanistan in 2014. According to Miller, most terrorist organizations are now weakened. The impact of counter-terrorism operations by allies, including the US and India, is slowly beginning to show.
Christopher Miller told parliament that putting pressure on the authorities in countries like Afghanistan-Pakistan would still curb terrorist activity in South Asia. The US official also said that if intensive operations were carried out against the terrorists for another decade, the terrorist organizations would be weakened.
