A huge fire broke out in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh

A fire at a furniture market in the Uttar Pradesh city of Bareilly has reduced five shops to ashes. Goods worth crores of rupees were also reduced to ashes.

The fire is said to have been caused by a short circuit in a furniture market near Kumar Talkies in Bareilly. More than a dozen firefighters rushed there and firefighting efforts were underway as of this writing. The fire broke out around 8pm on Wednesday night. The furniture market was largely littered with wood and foam, so the fire did not spread.

According to an estimate, goods worth crores of rupees were burnt to ashes. Fortunately no casualties were reported. A trader present at the spot said that besides shops, warehouses were also set on fire.

As news of the fire spread, a large crowd froze. There are also residences in the area so the fear that the fire would not reach the residences was constantly in the minds of the people. In addition to the fire brigade, police officers also rushed to the scene.
