A Trinamool Congress worker was killed while trying to make a home-made bomb on the roof of his house in Shamsherganj area of West Bengal's Murshidabad district. Her ten-year-old son was also injured.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a police station, killing Humayun Kabir. However, soon after the incident, the Trinamool Congress raised its hand saying that Humayun Kabir was not a worker of our party. Sub-divisional police chief (Jangipur) Prasenjit Banerjee said the deceased Humayun was busy making bombs on the roof of his house. A bomb went off and Kabir was seriously injured. We started the investigation. However no arrests have been made yet.

Locals said Kabir was working as a laborer in a BD factory. We immediately rushed there and saw Kabir dead after a huge explosion on Saturday night. Kabir's mother Kachinur said that Kabir had gone straight to the ground at night. We do not know what he did there. We also trembled when we heard the explosion.

Police said Kabir was involved in criminal activity. He had been arrested earlier. Evidence that he was making a bomb had been leaked by his relatives. TMC spokesperson Gautam Ghosh said that no activist of our party was involved in the incident. We had requested the police to conduct a full investigation into the incident. None of our workers engage in such criminal activity.
