Veteran Maharashtra Congress leader Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar dies

Veteran Maharashtra Congress leader and former state chief minister Shivajirao Patil Nilangekar has died. He was 89 years old. He was admitted to a private hospital in Pune following a coronary heart attack. However, he defeated Corona and returned home. Shivajirao, who entered politics from Latur in the Marathwada region, was the Chief Minister of the state from 1985 to 1986.

Shivajirao resigned as chief minister in 1985 after he was accused of helping his daughter and a friend of his daughter tamper with the results of the MD's examination.

Shivajirao founded the Maharashtra Education Trust in 1968. The trust established four colleges, 12 higher secondary schools and 15 primary schools. He established Maharashtra Pharmacy College in 1984 in his native Nilanga. Sources close to him said that he had won the fight against Corona but was suffering from kidney disease. His funeral will be held in Nilanga today.
