New Delhi, 9 August 2020, Sunday

Most of the foreign tribes involved in the Nizamuddin Center in Delhi in the early stages of the Corona period have returned to their homeland. However, there are 34 tribes who are not ready to return to their homeland.

"We have done nothing wrong. So the fines that the government has imposed on us are wrong and there is no point in going back to apologize. These tribes have decided to stay in India and face the legal process," he said.

Foreign members of the Tablighi Jamaat have been fined between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000. Ahmed Ali, one of the members of the tribe, said, "I have done nothing wrong and I have not broken any law of this country. I did it before the lockdown took effect." I did not want to return to be a law-breaking American citizen on foreign soil.

On April 2, 2,346 people were evacuated from the Nizamuddin Center in Delhi. On April 3, 2,547 cases were registered in India. The government claimed that 25 per cent of the cases were due to people involved in the center and spread across the country.

The 34 foreign tribes had filed an application in the Supreme Court seeking repatriation. The apex court then said that they could leave the country after apologizing. However, the tribes have decided to fight a legal battle against it.
