Suggestion to sell the country's first metro train partnership center

- was running at a huge loss right now

- Suggested at the meeting of the secretaries of the center

New delhi date. Saturday 29 August 2020

A recent meeting of secretaries of various departments of the central government had suggested that the country's first metro train was running at a huge loss. The central government should sell its stake in Kolkata's metro train.

Currently there are metro trains in more than one state of the country. Most of these metro trains are operated by the state government while the Kolkata metro train is operated by Indian Railways. The meeting of the secretaries suggested that the government should consider selling its stake in the metro train as it was running at a huge loss.

In this meeting the finance department and the housing department. Secretaries of Urban Development Department and Railway Department were present. Representatives of the Policy Commission were also present at the meeting.

While this suggestion is welcome, the central government will have to think hard before implementing it as there is a Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal. Assembly elections are to be held there in 2021.

If the present BJP-majority central government sells out its stake in the Kolkata Metro train, the Trinamool Congress government will soon complain about the Ormaya treatment of the people of West Bengal at the Center and the campaign may hit the BJP in the Assembly elections. .
