Rumors that former President Pranab Mukherjee had died spread like wildfire. Soon his son Abhijit Mukherjee revealed that this was a rumor. My father is still alive. Please do not spread false rumors.

Pranab Mukherjee's daughter Sharmishtha also immediately refuted the rumor on Twitter, saying she wanted her phone to be free for updates from the hospital and urged the media not to call me to inquire about my father's death.

It may be recalled here that Pranab Mukherjee, 84, was admitted to the Indian Army Research and Referral Hospital on Monday in critical condition and underwent brain surgery. Earlier, when his corona was tested, it was also found to be positive.

Doctors were forced to keep him on a ventilator on Wednesday. On Wednesday, his condition was reported to be critical but was later declared stable.

Pranab Mukherjee's son Abhijit also refuted the rumors of his father's death on Twitter in clear terms and said that my father is still alive and hemodynamically stable. My heartfelt request to all is not to spread rumors of his death.

Mr. Mukherjee was the President from 2012 to 2017 and in 2019 he was awarded the Bharat Ratna Award. He had earlier served as the country's finance minister in the 1980s. He has been active in politics for the last five decades. He has held various positions in various governments and has been praised by the opposition as well as the ruling party.
