Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave a new gift to Andaman Nicobar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated the submarine optical fiber cable laid from Chennai to Port Blair. It will provide fast internet to the people of Andaman and Nicobar and will also benefit the other seven islands.

The Prime Minister said the work has been completed in about a year and a half. This is a gift for people before Independence Day. This was surveyed at sea because it was not easy to lay the cable and maintain its quality. It was much needed for years but it could not be done.

The foundation stone of the fiber cable that will be inaugurated today was also laid by Prime Minister Modi in 2018. Under it, about 2,300 km long cable has been laid between Chennai-Port Blair. The cable will run from Chennai to Swaraj Island, Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Kamrota, Great Nicobar, Long Island, Rangat. This will enable Andaman Nicobar to get the benefit of fast internet service.

There is also a lot of potential for tourism in the region but the lack of connectivity kept getting worse all the time. But now that the fiber cable facility is approaching, people are hoping it won't be a problem. Just a few days ago, Prime Minister Modi had a dialogue with Bharatiya Janata Party workers in Andaman and Nicobar.
