Modi government's Jandhan Yojana completed 6 years! So many crores of people took advantage, did you take it or not?

The much talked about Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana of Modi government has completed 6 years on Friday. After coming to power, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the scheme, which was aimed at opening bank accounts for the people. Today, as he completes his 6th year, PM Modi tweeted congratulations to the people and laid out some facts related to the scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in his tweet, “Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana was launched 6 years ago today with the aim of connecting people to the banking system. This has become a game changer which has been used to benefit the people trapped in poverty, 'PM Modi further wrote-' The future of crores of families has been secured due to Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana. Most of them are from rural areas and are women. Who have worked for this scheme. I wish them well. '

- PM Modi has also shared some facts related to this scheme which shows how comprehensive this scheme has been.
- 40.35 crore bank accounts have been emptied under this scheme till August 2020.
- 55% of the total bank accounts are in the name of women, while the remaining 44% are in the name of others.
- 64% of the bank accounts opened under Jandhan Yojana are in rural areas, while only 36% are in urban areas.
- Accounts can be opened through Zero Balance under this scheme. In addition, it has the facility to get accident insurance and debit card of Rs 2 lakh.
It may be recalled that this was the first major scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he came to power, after which there were long lines for opening accounts outside banks.
