In Assam, the turbulent area act has been extended for another six months


- Prolonged the act by calling it a terrorist attack

In Assam, northeast India, the implementation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 was extended for another six months. The order will come into force on August 28

Was officially announced.

According to a government announcement, the AFSPA was extended due to the ongoing terrorist attacks in Assam and surrounding areas and the frequent seizure of illegal weapons as well as explosives.

However, various organizations of the citizens of Assam as well as local political parties and the media were constantly demanding the implementation of the law. But the Centre's Home Department was told by intelligence agencies as well as police and military sources that the law would be extended for another six months.

Before Assam, this law was in force in Manipur. The law has been in force since 1990. It was later extended to Assam and other northeastern states.
