Haryana ranks fourth and Delhi ranks fifth. Unemployment is higher in urban areas

Unemployment fell sharply after the lockdown but is now rising again. According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE), the unemployment rate in the country is currently 7.93%. Unemployment rates are higher in urban areas than in rural areas.

At present, the unemployment rate is 9.65% in urban areas and 7.13% in rural areas. The unemployment rate in cities was close to 10% by the end of July. There was a slight decline but unemployment is seen falling again at the national level and rising again.

According to these figures, the unemployment rate in the capital Delhi has reached 20.3%, which means that one in five people is looking for a job here and 24.5% in Haryana, which means that almost one in four people are looking for a job. Even in Punjab, 10.4% people have no job.

Unemployment status of other states

According to CMIE's July data, the unemployment rate is 12.2% in Bihar, 5.5% in Uttar Pradesh, 9% in Chhattisgarh, 17.1% in Goa, 1.9% in Gujarat, 18.6% in Himachal Pradesh, 11.2% in Jammu and Kashmir, 8.8% in Jharkhand, 12.4% in West Bengal and 6.8% in West Bengal. Unemployment is 6.8% in Kerala, 3.6% in Madhya Pradesh, 4.4% in Maharashtra, 1.9% in Odisha, 21.1% in Pondicherry, 15.2% in Rajasthan, 8.1% in Tamil Nadu, 9.1% in Telangana and 16.1% in Tripura.
