Eid al-Adha, the festival of the goat, is being celebrated across the country today. People offered Saturday morning prayers at the Jama Masjid in Delhi. Prayers were offered at the Jama Masjid in Delhi at 6:05 am. People who had come to offer prayers at the Jama Masjid due to the Koro crisis had repeatedly requested the mosque administration to keep the distance and offer prayers.

Police personnel deployed at the Jama Masjid allowed people to enter the mosque after a thermal screening. However, mixed images have surfaced during prayers at the Jama Masjid. Due to the Koro crisis, some worshipers were seen to be following social distance while on the other hand, its violation was also exposed. The people sitting in the front of the mosque were praying at a distance but the people sitting in the back were seen sitting very close and praying.

Some even offered prayers while sitting on the stairs of the mosque. People were also seen rushing out of the crowd after the prayers. Many people were seen walking around the mosque without masks.

Although he admitted that some people violated social distance but most claimed to have followed the rules. According to him, the rules were violated by some people due to late arrival.

It is worth mentioning that after Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha i.e. Goat Eid is the second largest festival of Muslims. During both these festivals, special prayers are offered by going to Eidgah or in mosques. It is customary to make shir khurma on Eid-ul-Fitr while goats or other animals are sacrificed on Eid-ul-Azha.

However this year the situation is different due to the corona virus crisis. Due to this, the government is also banning crowds from gathering at festivals, but as a precautionary measure, Goat Eid is being observed across the country.
