Centre's new trilingual education policy should not be implemented: CM of Tamil Nadu

New delhi date. Monday, August 3, 2020

The new education policy implemented by the central government has again come under controversy. Earlier, the Opposition had accused the privatization of education. Now, even in South India, the language mentioned in the policy is being opposed.

Tamil Nadu has started it and said that we will not implement the three language formula in the new education policy and will continue to implement the two language policy we have.

AIADMK, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu, said, "We urge the central government to revise the three-language formula in the education policy as it is very sad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi should consider amending the policy." Chief Minister Palaniswami said.

"We will implement our bilingual policy and not the Centre's trilingual policy," he said. The Chief Minister in his argument said that our state has been pursuing a bilingual policy for many years and no change will be made in it.

In such a scenario, Chief Minister Narendra Modi should consider the request of the people of Tamil Nadu for three languages and allow the states to take decisions according to their own policy. Opposition to the trilingual formula in the new education policy could escalate in other South Indian states as well.

No statement was issued by the Center on the protest before it took place in Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu said that even in 1965, the Hindi language was fiercely opposed by the students of Tamil Nadu. Citing the current new policy, it is being claimed that the central government now wants to impose Hindi language in the states of South India, including Tamil Nadu.
