Top Indian Army officials have ordered an inquiry into an encounter last month in Shopian in south Kashmir. Army personnel informed the media on July 18 that three militants had been killed in Shopian.

Now a family had complained that three of our youths were missing in the area where the encounter took place and we had also lodged a police complaint. Upon learning of this, the concerned officer of the Indian Army ordered an inquiry into the incident. The three buried bodies will be removed and their DNA tested.

"We took note of the post on social media on July 18 and the identity of the three killed during the encounter could not be ascertained so they were buried as per the rules," said Col Rajesh Kalia, spokesperson of the Indian Army headquarters at Srinagar on Monday.

Now the family members of three youths from Dhar Sakari village in Kotranka in Rajouri area of ​​Poonch had lodged a police complaint that three youths of our family were missing. So the Indian Army decided to investigate.

The families reported that they last spoke to us on the phone on July 16th. The families of the three claimed to be involved in the apple and walnut trade.

The Indian Army wanted to make sure that the youths killed were in fact terrorists or that they had been blindfolded. The mixed youths were shot dead as terrorists. The bodies of the three youths will now be exhumed and sent for DNA tests to verify the facts.

In Jammu and Kashmir, locals have often complained that our youth are sometimes shot dead as terrorists.
