Anti-Islam riots erupt in Norway after Sweden

Oslo, Ta. Sunday 30 August 2020

Following the violent anti-Islam protests in Sweden, the effects have now spread to neighboring Norway. Violent protests erupted between anti-Islamists and pro-Islamists in the Norwegian capital Oslo on Saturday. Protesters tore down a copy of the Muslim holy book, the Quran. The exhibition was organized by the organization Islamization of Norway from the far south of Norway.

The demonstrators gathered outside the parliament building in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, and protested against Islamic ideology. The performance lasted about two hours. Lars Thorse, leader of Stop Islamization of Norway, made some anti-Islamic statements. Meanwhile, supporters of the organization chanted slogans.

Opponents of the Stop Islamization of Norway also gathered to protest, but were stopped short by police. This kept the two groups far apart. Meanwhile, a member of Stop Islamization of Norway pulled out a copy of the Quran and tore it up. Proponents of Islam, on the other hand, took notice and the protest turned aggressive.

After which the supporters of Islam broke the police barricades and fought against the supporters of Stop Islamization of Norway. There were blows. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck. One person has been injured in the conflict. Police have arrested a large number of people.
