There is good news amid the growing transition to corona. The corona vaccine 'COVAXIN' may be launched on August 15. The vaccine has been developed by pharmaceutical company Bharat Biotech and is likely to be launched by Bharat Biotech-ICMR.

The vaccine has recently been approved for human trial and according to a letter issued by ICMR, enrollment for human trial will start from July 7. It is hoped that Covexin will be launched by August 15, if all trials are successful. With this, India may be the first to enter the biotech vaccine market.

The letter has been issued by ICMR and all stakeholders (including AIIMS doctors). According to him, if all the phases of the trial are successful, the corona vaccine 'Covexin' could be on the market by August 15. This is currently estimated by ICMR.

Just a few days back, Hyderabad-based pharma company Bharat Biotech claimed that Covexin had received the green signal from DCGI for the human trials of Phase-1 and Phase-2. The company said the trial work would start in the first week of July and India is an experienced company in making biotech vaccines.

Bharat Biotech has also developed vaccines for polio, rabies, rotavirus, Japanese encephalitis, chickenpox and Zika virus. Enrollment for the human trial could begin on July 7. The phased trial will then be conducted and if the next trial is successful, the vaccine will be launched on August 15.
