Pakistan: Radicals vandalize space allotted for new Krishna temple in Islamabad

Islamabad, July 7, 2020, Tuesday

Despite many claims by the Imran Khan government in Pakistan, atrocities against minorities continue unabated.

After the fundamentalists blocked the construction of the first temple of Lord Krishna to be built by the government in the capital Islamabad, now the azan has been forcibly given on the temple land. Not only that, the foundation of the temple has also been demolished. Even after all this, PM Imran Khan is silent.

Pakistan's minority community has criticized the extremists' actions, saying intolerance against minorities is on the rise in the country. The Imran Khan government had earlier announced plans to build a temple but the government fell to its knees after the extremists opposed it.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Religious Affairs said the decision to build the temple would be taken after considering the religious aspect. The rights of minorities in Pakistan would be protected.

Earlier, a scuffle broke out when the government announced Rs 10 crore for the construction of the temple. The fundamentalists protested that government money could not be spent on building the temple.

According to the original plan of the government, this Krishna temple was to be built in 20000 square feet.
