The price of tomato, the second most used food in the Indian diet after onions, has made people cry.
In most cities of India, the price of tomato has gone up to Rs 60 per kg. In some places, tomatoes are being sold at Rs 70 and Rs 80 per kg. Is a kilo.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said that due to non-season, tomato prices usually go up between July and September. As tomatoes deteriorate quickly, their prices fluctuate.
Tomato production in the country is low in UP, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Arunachal Pradesh. These states are dependent on other states for tomatoes. The country consumes 1.15 million tonnes of tomatoes annually.
