Massive fire at chemical factory at Vizag in Andhra Pradesh, far-flung explosions

A fire broke out at a pharma company in Andhra Pradesh's Vizag district. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started and people living in the surrounding areas also heard loud explosions. At the same time, some people are feared to have died in the fire, but no news of their deaths has been received yet.

More than a dozen fire trucks rushed to the scene and the injured were rushed to a hospital in Gajavuka. Many units of the factory are still on fire and rescue operations are underway.

Apart from the fire brigade, police vehicles have also reached the spot and work is underway to rush the injured to the hospital as soon as possible. The severity of the tragedy can be understood by looking at the flames in the sky from a distance.

Twelve vehicles of the fire brigade rushed to the spot to douse the fire and locals rushed out of their houses to witness the explosion and fire. According to the DCP, only four people were present in the unit at the time of the incident and they have come out safely. Fire tenders are trying to contain the fire and fortunately no one has lost their life yet.

Local authorities, ACP, DCP etc. along with fire brigade personnel have also reached there and are all trying to help as much as possible.

Informing about the accident, the DCP said that a fire broke out from a reactor and spread all over the place. Only four people were present in the unit at the time of the accident and they rushed out to save their lives.

CP RK Meena of Visakhapatnam is monitoring the whole incident and efforts are on to contain the fire. Efforts are underway to contain the blaze, but chemicals have spread throughout the plant.
