Kanpur shootout: One more accused arrested, AK-47 found from Vikas Dubey's house

Another accused in the Kanpur shootout case, Shashikant, has been arrested by the police. Weapons looted from police personnel have also been seized. ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar informed that several weapons looted from the police were seized from Bikru village. AK-47 and 17 rounds of ammunition were recovered from Vikas Dubey's house.

ADG Prashant Kumar informed that another accused in the Bikru scandal, Shashikant, has been arrested. A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for the arrested accused Shashikant. Following Shashikant's revelation, police seized AK-47s and 17 rounds of ammunition from Vikas Dubey's house and an Insas rifle was also recovered from Shashikant's house.

According to ADG Prashant Kumar, there were 21 accused in the entire case out of which four have been arrested. The arrested accused include Shyamu Vajpayee, Jahan Yadav, Dayashankar Agnihotri and Shashikant. So far, six accused have been killed in the police encounter, including Vikas Dubey, Rajaram, Atul Dubey, Amar Dubey, Prabhat Mishra and Praveen Dubey.

ADG Prashant Kumar said seven people have been arrested under 120B. Two accused are in jail and 11 accused are still under investigation in the case. Apart from that, two persons arrested from Maharashtra are being brought to UP on remand and further action will be taken as per rules.

What is the whole case

Vikas Dubey and his accomplices attacked a police team that went to raid Bikru village in Kanpur on the night of July 2. Eight police personnel, including field officer Devendra Mishra, were killed at the time. Vikas Dubey and five of his comrades have since been killed in the encounter.
