Iran's acknowledgment, the nuclear field destroyed in Israel's cyber attack

Tehran, Ta. 6 July 2020, Monday

Iran has confirmed that the damaged building at the underground Natanz nuclear site is in fact a new centrifuge center. Iran's official news agency has released the news. A centrifuge is a machine that uses a centrifugal force to separate liquids from solids or solids of various densities.

Iranian officials tried to avoid Thursday morning's fire, which affected an "industrial shed", by calling it a "normal disaster." However, images and videos of the site released by Iran's state-run channel showed a two-story brick building with fire marks and a clearly damaged roof.

Behrouz Kamalvandi, a spokesman for Iran's nuclear agency, said work on the plant began in 2013 and was inaugurated in 2018. There was a desire to build more advanced centrifuge machines here. Furthermore, these losses could potentially delay the development and production of advanced centrifuge machines.

Israeli cyber attack on Iranian territory

Measurements and precision instruments have been damaged, Kamalvandi said. The center did not operate at full capacity due to sanctions imposed on Tehran in 2015 over its nuclear agreements with world powers. Iran has been experimenting with advanced centrifuge models since the United States pulled out of the agreement two years ago. Iran has long said its nuclear programs are for peaceful purposes.

The IRNA was behind the tragedy with suspicion against its enemies Israel and the United States. Earlier, a Kuwaiti newspaper claimed that Israel had launched a cyber attack on Iranian territory. The newspaper reported on Thursday that a cyber attack by Israel had caused a fire at Iran's Natanz nuclear power plant and caused a huge explosion. The entire facility has been built underground and Iran's nuclear program has been postponed for two months following the Israeli attack.
