False claim of not occupying even an inch of land, Chinese present within 1.5 km: Chidambaram

New delhi date. 18 July 2020, Saturday

According to Congress leader P. Chidambaram, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh's claim that no one owns even an inch of Indian land is just a statement. Chidambaram said Indian security agencies had also assessed that Chinese troops were still infiltrating 1.5 km across the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on the Indian side.

Army present within 1.5 km

Accusing the Modi government, the former home minister said, "The Indian government has been claiming that no one has encroached on our land but such statements have only turned out to be gossip." Chidambaram tweeted, "As per the assessment made by Indian security agencies, the Chinese army is still crossing the LAC and infiltrating the Indian border within 1.5 km." In May, the Chinese army crossed the LAC and came within 5 km of our border.

The Modi government only makes statements

P. Chidambaram said the government had claimed that no one had crossed the Indian border but it was just a vague statement. The defense minister had said that no one could touch even an inch of Indian soil but that too was gossip. According to Congress leader Chidambaram, it will be difficult to achieve the status quo until the central government accepts the truth.

Presence of Chinese troops on Finger-4

The two countries had a long dialogue on June 15 after a violent clash between Indian and Chinese troops in the Galvan Valley. Both armies later agreed to withdraw. However, according to defense agencies, Chinese troops are still present in the Finger-4 area of the Galvan Valley. India has a claim on Finger-4 and India has been patrolling till Finger-8 but in May Chinese troops came up to Finger-4.
