Changes in single regulator-board exams, likely to make big decisions in education policy today

New delhi date. Wednesday, July 29, 2020

The Centre's Narendra Modi government may approve a new education policy at a cabinet meeting today. This means that there will be a single regulatory body for the entire higher education sector so that the chaos in the education sector can end. The information will be given by the government today (Wednesday) at 4 pm.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has already prepared a plan to create a regulator. The regulator will be named the National Higher Education Regulatory Authority (NHERA) or the Higher Education Commission of India.

According to a report by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the National Education Policy was formulated in 1986 and some changes were made in 1992. Three decades have passed since then but no major changes have been made.

According to the central government, a major change is needed in the field of education so that India can become a superpower of knowledge in the world. This requires good quality education for all so that a progressive and dynamic society can be created.

Emphasis is being laid on developing a new national curriculum framework to improve the quality of education provided at the primary level. The framework will also cover knowledge of different languages, 21st century skills, sports-arts in the course and issues related to the environment.

As far as the inclusion of sports in education is concerned, Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju also recently said that sports curriculum would be a part of the country's new education policy. "India's new education policy has not yet been officially announced but it is in its final stages," Rijiju said.

During the talks, my ministry has already made its case in earnest. According to Rijiju, a high-level committee has been formed to form the National Sports Education Board.
