Ashok Gehlot in an aggressive mood, called a cabinet meeting

Jaipur Dated 25th July 2020 Saturday

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot seemed to be in an aggressive mood once again this morning. He suddenly called a meeting of his cabinet this morning after a five-hour picket at the Raj Bhavan on Friday night. He expressed confidence that we are ready to prove a majority on the floor.

According to a report, Gehlot, who looked a little nervous a few days ago, seemed to be back to normal this morning. Gehlot seemed to have succeeded in attracting two members of the Indian Tribal Party. When Sachin's pilot group revolted, rumors were circulating that these two members were also in the pilot group.

Gehlot also held a meeting with his supporters on Friday night in which he is said to have clarified his strategy. One possibility was that he devised a strategy to stop the legislators from bargaining at any cost. He used all his strength to prevent BJP and Sachin Pilot from buying their loyal MLAs.

There are 200 seats in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Prior to Sachin Pilot's walkout, the BJP had a total of 76 seats, of which 72 were held by the BJP itself and the remaining three by the National Democratic Party and one by an independent. The pilot group has 19 members. (Speaker CP Joshi gave notice to 19 MLAs). In addition, the pilot had the support of two independents. Thus, the BJP is likely to have 97 seats at present.

The Supreme Court is due to give its verdict on Monday. Until then both groups will make efforts to further strengthen their position.
