After the encounter, Vikas will now take stock of Dubey's assets, the ED has started an investigation

Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey has been shot dead in a police encounter and his assets will now be investigated. The ED has started investigating the assets of Vikas Dubey and has sought details of Vikas Dubey and his family members, associates as well as associates in criminal activities from the UP police. The ED has also sought information on the current status of the criminal case against Vikas Dubey.

Prior to the encounter, the local administration of Kanpur had demolished a fort-like house in Vikas Dubey with a JCB used to encircle the police team. Vikas then also crushed Dubey's vehicles with a JCB. Vikas Dubey has a house in Lucknow and the administration is also keeping an eye on him so the property is under investigation.

Vikas Dubey, a gangster accused in the Kanpur scandal, was killed in an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on the morning of July 10. According to police, a UP STF vehicle carrying Vikas Dubey from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur met with an accident at high speed due to rain and overturned before entering Kanpur.

According to police, Vikas Dubey and several police personnel were injured in the accident and yet Vikas tried to escape from police custody. Vikas Dubey jumped at the chance and tried to escape by snatching the pistol of an STF jawan and the encounter started. STF personnel asked Vikas Dubey to surrender at gunpoint but he refused, forcing police to shoot him and kill him.

Police have now started investigating the assets in addition to arresting Vikas Dubey's accomplices and other members of his gang.
