90 Chinese nuclear scientists resign, alleging government pressure

A new controversy has erupted in China, according to a report in the South China Morning Post. At least 90 nuclear scientists have resigned from a Chinese government nuclear plant.

These scientists allege that the government was increasing the pressure on us. The Chinese Communist Party called the mass resignation a brain drain and ordered a high-level inquiry into it.

China's top intellectuals have some sensitive information about China's nuclear power and nuclear weapons, so the government considered the mass resignation an international conspiracy. Doubts arose in the minds of the ruling party's leaders that all these scientists would not leave the country.

The Institute of Nuclear Energy Safety Technology (INEST) is located in the eastern city of Hefei, China. The resignation of ninety scientists associated with the institute made headlines in the Chinese media.

The leaders of the Communist Party seemed eager to put an end to this as soon as possible before it gained international significance and was discussed further. The institute operates as part of the Hefei Institute of Physical Sciences. The Hefei Institute operates under the Chinese government-owned Chinese Academy of Sciences.

INEST specializes in Advanced Nuclear Energy and Safety Technology and is involved in local as well as international projects in the country. That is why China is aware of many highly secretive and sensitive matters.

INEST employs a total of 600 scientists, most of whom are top intellectuals with Ph.D. Last year, the organization created a virtual nuclear power plan that was under scrutiny from organizations around the world.
