What was the story of taking sheep to the Chinese embassy in 1965?

New Delhi, June 17, 2020, Tuesday

In the 18th, Chinese soldiers accused Indian soldiers of stealing sheep. Atal Behari Vajpayee, a young MP at the time, took sheep and goats to the Chinese embassy to protest China's lies. The two countries also exchanged letters regarding the disappearance of livestock belonging to Chinese herdsmen and goats in the Tibetan region, demanding the return of 200 sheep and goats from India. He also threatened India with consequences if it did not do so.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a 6-year-old Jana Sangh MP at the time, was shocked by these false allegations from China. Vajpayee, in his distinctive style, said that China would wage a world war sitting on sheep and yanks. There were also banners in hand at the time of the protest in which we wrote, "Let's eat, but let's save the world." China was dismayed by this special display at Vajpayee's Chinese embassy. The protest was staged on September 6. This was a peaceful and funny demonstration by Indian citizens against China's ultimatum.

China has denied the allegations in a statement issued Friday stating "Similar, baseless allegations concerning China's intelligence have been made more than once. Another allegation by the Chinese government is that eight Tibetans under its control have been abducted. In this regard, it came out that 6 Tibetans had voluntarily come to India and taken refuge, not only that, they were also allowed to return to Tibet.
